Before I get to this Peach Tea BBQ Sauce recipe, I have to tell you how I became acquainted with the tea company that inspired this recipe.
One of the coolest things that has happened in my world has been beingable to work with the family-ownedBigelow Teacompany. In May, David and I traveled to South Carolina to spend time with the Bigelow Teafamily and their employees. The trip was without a doubt, one of the most amazing things that I’ve ever had the pleasure of taking part in. Before working with Bigelow Tea, I didn’t even know they were a family owned company. And yes, by family owned, I mean TRULY family owned. I didn’t know the special story about their “Constant Comment” tea. And I didn’t know I could feel such a special connection with a company.
One of the favoritethings we’ve made with Bigelow Tea is thisPeach Tea BBQSauce recipe. Well, I say we…but it was actually David. That man is obsessed with barbecue sauces (you should see our stockpile of it) and he loves to create new flavors. He has several tea-based bbq sauces that he’s been working on, but today he’s ready for me to share the Peach Tea Barbecue Sauce which he made with Bigelow Perfect Peach Herb Tea.
To make the sauce, David uses the entire box — all 20 tea bags. But the great thing is that Bigelow Tea won’t cost you a lot even though you are using the entire box. We bought ours at Walmart and the price is only $2.18 a box.
The tea bags are steeped in 1 1/2 cups of boiling water, which ends up creating a very concentrated peach tea.
Right after steeping, you remove the herbal tea bags and squeeze them. Brown sugar is added right away so that it will dissolve into the hot, concentrated tea.
The rest of the ingredients are added and the sauce is simmered on the stove until it reaches your desired thickness. It makes about 1 generous cup of sauce (or about 11 oz).
We used our Peach Tea BBQ Sauce on our pork spareribs for 4th of July, but you could use it on just about anything.
As a matter of fact, we love this sauce so much that we’ve already made another batch that we’ll be using on grilled chicken soon. After it’s made, we allow it to cool and store it in a glass canning jar in the refrigerator.

And you can’t have the 4th of July without fireworks! This year, we did something different. We didn’t buy fireworks and we didn’t attend a busy 4th of July festival. Right as it was getting dark, we got in our van and drove to a quiet spot just off the highway that had a few of the Las Vegas Strip, plus the entire Vegas valley. We stood in the dark desert together, watching all the firework displays — big and small — all across Vegas. As first I worried that we’d be too far away to enjoy them, but it was perfect. We could left to right and see fireworks everywhere in Vegas. It was a beautiful sight, and the moment was so peaceful being away from crowds and the city. It was truly a moment to remember for us….I even did an Instagram video of it:
I hope you enjoyed our Peach Tea BBQ Sauce and all of the other tea ideas. I know for us, having Bigelow Tea as part of our 4th of July festivities was a perfect way to celebrate. I’ve got more ideas up my sleeve that use Bigelow Tea, so be sure to keep watch here at Home Cooking Memories
