“Okay, where do we start?” I ask.
“Well, you remember on the way there were two campers talking about who were outside last night, we should start with that.” Jason suggested.
”Great idea, but how do we find them?”
"I don't know…"
Great…
We look at each other for a moment, probably thinking about how we could find them.
And even if we find them, will they tell us what they know?
Wouldn't it perhaps be better to directly ask who they were talking to?
Who was it again?
Why am I thinking like this?
Annabeth is the one who thinks like this usually.
Ahhhh, I Know!
“We have to go to their cabin and ask if they are there.”
“Good idea, let’s do that!”
And that’s how we left my cabin to find the two kids.
We had already been walking for a few minutes when Annabeth approached us, usually I would be super happy to see her but I really didn't have time right now.
”Percy, I was just looking for you!”
"Sorry Annabeth, I don't have time."
”Percy listen-”
”Percy…”
"Sorry!"
Ouch, that’s going to cost me her help for the next essay…
”That’s going to cost you man.”
Since when can he read my thoughts?
“I know, come on, let’s hurry.”
We were just outside their cabin when we saw the boy.
Thank the gods, I didn't want to hear the new gossips or worse, have them give me a makeover.
“Hey, Aaron!”
"You know him?"
"Not really."
"What do you want?"
Well, he seemed a lot nicer with his sister.
“Um, we need some information-” I begin.
“What kind of information?” A sparkle lit up in his eyes, that’s not good for us.
Jason cleared his throat “We heard you talking with Océane-”
”Oh so now you’re listening to private chats?”
Damn, he annoys me, this guy.
”You were right in the middle of the road!”
”Okay, what do you want to know? We don’t have all day.”
If you didn't cut us off...
”Okay, we would like to know who she saw last night.”
”Um, I don’t know…”
He clearly knew.
Is he a son of Aphrodite or Hermes?
”Please, I beg you! A very important thing was stolen from me, I have to find out who did that!”
“Slow down, I’ll help you, but I want something in return.”
Is he serious?
He’s so f*cking annoying!
”Okay, I have an idea” Jason said suddenly.
He took him by the shoulder to pull him away to whisper something in his ear.
What is he saying?
What will he give him in exchange?
”Omg! You would do that!”
”Only if you don’t rush him.”
”Yes, yes ok”
He then turned to me.
”She talked about the Stolls and Will, the rest I don’t remember.”
All for that.
”Ok thank you very much, come on Jason let’s go.”
“Don’t forget your promise, Superman!”
”What did you promise him?”
“I’ll tell you later, we have to find Kayla.”
"For what?"
”Are you the detective or me? She’s Will’s sister-”
”Ahhh, to ask what she saw!”
”Yup, heading to the infirmary.”
“Kayla!”
“Did you two got hurt again?”
”No, not this time we need to talk to you.”
“Talk to me?”
”Yes about Will.”
For a second I thought I saw disappointment in her face.
”Yeah sure, what do you want to know?”
”Where was he last night?”
“Nico wasn’t feeling too well so they went to his cabin to make him feel better.”
”And does it often happens that they go alone in his cabin?” Jason asked.
No, but seriously, only they have the right to do that!
And then they say there is no favoritism!
"Where are they?"
”Probably in cabin 7.”
”Ok, great thank you, come on Jason let’s go.”
We opened the cabin door to find Nico and Will arguing (again).
Will looked surprised "Woahhh, what are you doing here?" He began, “No, I don’t want to train.” Nico finished.
“We would like to ask you a few questions.”
"No."
And that’s how we got kicked out.
Annoying?
Yes, but hey without this situation we would never have thought of talking to Léo Valdez.
In fact, we didn’t think about it, it was him who was there and spoke to us.
"Hey guys, shouldn’t you know that you shouldn't disturb a couple who are having a fight."
“Leo, it’s not the time for that.”
”Okay, okay, are you okay? You seem a little on edge.”
“No, someone stole my dolphin plushy and we’re looking for who it could be.”
“Ah sh*t, is it the Stolls? They asked me to make them cloaks that make them invisible for one of their prank.”
“They asked you that?”
”Jason, I think we need to question them first”
"I agree."
“Thank you Valdez!”
”Percy! I need to talk to you."
“Sorry Annabeth, we’ll talk later, I have things to do.”
